Sweden 1852 4 skilling
The first specimen was lot 1239 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Oscar I, 1844-1859, AE 4 skilling, 1852, a wonderful example, PCGS graded MS62 RB, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." The second specimen was lot 11163 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Copenhagen, June 2026), where it sold for €244 (about US$281). The catalog description[2] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Skilling Banco, 1852. Stockholm Mint. Oskar I. NGC AU-58 Brown. Attractive, toned example with a lovely chocolate-brown color. From the L.E. Bruun Collection." By the reform of 1830, 32 skilling banco = one riksdaler. The copper coinage included four, two, one, 2/3, 1/3 and 1/6 skilling pieces. This type was struck 1849-52 and 1855 and is not common, particularly in nice condition. It is the last of the denomination. This is a better date.
