This specimen was lot 30991 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $381.88. The catalog description[1] noted, "Adolf Frederick I 8 Ore 1771-AL, MS61 NGC. Variety without a crossbar within the A in the monogram. A nice original example of this elusive one-year type also valued as 1/12 Riksdaler." This type is listed for 1773-74 only but is not scarce in circulated condition. It was part of a short lived experiment which also featured four öre (KM 506) and sixteen öre (KM 513). Subsequent issues were denominated 1/12 riksdaler (KM 520 and KM 523) before being abandoned in 1779.
