This specimen was lot 21509 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Mark, 1717-LC. Karl XII (1697-1718). NGC MS-65. Type III. Single finest graded of the type at either NGC or PCGS. Sharply struck with clear definition of the fine details and lovely frosted devices with satiny surfaces. Light smokey tone throughout which deepens to an attractive slate on the high points." This silver mark was struck in Sweden 1701-17 in the closing stages of the Great Northern War when Sweden was losing and the government bankrupt. One mark was eight öre. The plate coin in the SCWC, dated 1701, shows the king with long hair.
