This specimen was lot 11255 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €125 (about US$130). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Fyrk, 1598. Stockholm Mint. Sigismund. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex. A. C. Mohr Collection (Copenhagen-1847) Lot # 4188." Wikipedia comments, "Sigismund was the son of King John III of Sweden and his first wife, Catherine Jagiellon, daughter of King Sigismund I of Poland. Elected monarch of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1587, he sought to unify Poland and Sweden under one Catholic kingdom, and when he succeeded his deceased father in 1592 the Polish–Swedish union was created. Opposition in Protestant Sweden caused a war against Sigismund headed by Sigismund's uncle Charles IX, who deposed him in 1599." This type was struck 1594-98. One daler was 32 öre or four mark.
