This specimen was part of lot 36722 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Five-Coin Proof Set 1962-S. Mintage 650 sets. All coins certified by NGC as follows: Cent PR66 Red and Brown; 5 Cents PR66; 10 Cents PR66; 25 Cents PR65; Gulden PR66. A virtually flawless set, sold with original box of issue." The "republic" in the auction description is a misnomer; Surinam did not obtain her independence until 1975. This denomination was struck intermittently 1962-86.
Recorded mintage: 2,300,000 plus 650 proofs.
