Surinam is the former Dutch colony of Guiana. Surinam received her own coinage during World War Two but separated completely from the Netherlands in 1962. This type was struck 1943 and 1957-60 and is common.

Recorded mintage: 1,200,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2.5 g, bronze, reeded edge, 19 mm diameter.
