This specimen was lot 1273 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $450. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRASSBURG: Free City, AR gulden (60 kreuzer), ND (1669-1799). MONETA NOVA REIP ARGENTINENSIS, coat of arms in a decorated cartouche, value LX K above // GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO, large heraldic lily, a stunning mint state example with light golden toning, NGC graded MS61. The finest graded example at NGC." A sixty kreuzer was equal to two-thirds thaler, a very popular denomination in the late seventeenth century. Strasbourg was annexed to France in 1684.
