This specimen was lot 3249 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $41.65. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: George V, 1910-1936, BI 10 cents, 1918, satiny surfaces, Unc." This type was originally 0.600 fine (KM 29, 1916-17), then 0.400 fine (KM 29a, 1918-20) then back to 0.600 fine (KM 29b, 1925-27). The five and twenty cents were similarly affected. The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya.
