This specimen was lot 2475 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "Straits Settlements. ¼ Cent, 1889. Victoria. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown." The type was struck in 1889-91, 1898-99 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and is scarce in nice condition despite the large mintage. It was converted to bronze for the 1884 issue (KM 7a) and given a reeded edge for the 1889 issue (KM 14).
