This specimen was lot 2795 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1867-1901, AR 50 cents, 1887, bag marks on bust, a few small obverse scratches, low-mintage better date, Fine to VF." This type was struck 1886-1901 and is scarce in all grades, unlike the smaller denominations, after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony. Proofs exist.
Recorded mintage: 94,000, a slightly scarce date.
