St. Kitts & Nevis No Date (1798) c/m 1 sous
The islands of Saint Kitts and Nevis went back and forth between the English and French for many years, before the English prevailed and incorporated into an administrative group along with Anguilla. In recent times both St. Kitts and Nevis have used the currency of the British Caribbean Territories (Eastern Group).
This example was in Heritage sale 3014 (Chicago, April 2011), where it sold for $345. the catalog description noted,
"Nevis British Colony Counterstamp Coinage ND (1798), F15 BN NGC, struck upon an imitation 2 Sous of French Guiana. The coinage was known as a Black Dog and was struck in small numbers. The counterstamp word, "Nevis" is relatively clear. Ex: J.J. Ford Collection, Glendining Auction, 16 October 1989, Lot 64 (part)."
