Sincona sale 95, lot 4518

This specimen was lot 4518 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$194 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ St. Gallen, Stadt und Kanton, 15 Kreuzer 1786, St. Gallen. Fast sehr schön. (Switzerland, city and canton of St. Gall, fifteen kreuzer of 1786, St. Gall mint. About Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1786 and 1789; the 1786 is scarce and the 1789 is rare. Fifteen kreuzer made one quarter gulden. A six kreuzer (KM 94) was also issued in 1786.
