St. Gall 1720-A 3 kreuzer

Sincona sale 102, lot 5495

This specimen was lot 5495 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$302 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. St. Gallen. Stadt und Kanton. Groschen 1720, St. Gallen. Mzz. A und Bäumchen. Sehr selten. Schön-sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of St. Gall, groschen of 1720, St. Gall mint, mintmark "A" and small tree. Very rare, Fine-Very Fine.)"

Numista lists three kreuzer or groschen for 1714-15, 1720-32, 1737-39 but this style was struck only in 1720 and is quite scarce. The SCWC does not mention the mintmark.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.36 g, silver, 22 mm diameter, this specimen 1.43 g.
