St. Gall 1633 24 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 4487 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,233 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ St. Gallen, Stadt und Kanton, Dicken 1633, St. Gallen. Selten. Sehr schön. Avers im Feld minimal geglättet. Exemplar der Slg. Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 6035. (Switzerland, St. Gall, dicken of 1633, St. Gall mint. Rare, Very Fine, Obverse field minimally tooled.)"
The SCWC does not list any dicken struck after 1622; however, this 24 kreuzer is mentioned for 1631 and 1633. One dicken was 24 kreuzer or one third thaler. After this issue, the St. Gall mint closed until the early eighteenth century.
