This specimen was lot 4483 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 3,600 CHF (about US$4,990 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ St. Gallen, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1565, St. Gallen. Sehr selten. Fast vorzüglich. Schrötlingsrisse am Rand. Felder geglättet. (Switzerland, city and canton of St. Gall, St. Gall mint. Very rare, About Extremely Fine, Flan cracks on edge. Fields tooled.)"
This rare type is not mentioned in the SCWC or Numista. It is very similar to the contemporary thaler (Dav-8792).
