This specimen was lot 2793 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "SRI LANKA: AV 500 rupees, 1991, 5th SAF Games, Colombo, Proof." In 1972, Ceylon dropped its membership in the British Commonwealth and changed its name to Sri Lanka, which name is still in use. This NCLT is one of the few gold coins from that country.

Recorded mintage: 8,000 proofs.

Specification: 1.60 g, 0.500 fine gold, 14 mm diameter.
