This specimen was lot 70326 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "CEYLON. 5 Cents, 1975. PCGS SPECIMEN-66 Gold Shield. KM-129. A near flawless and unusually shaped coin with not a speck of toning. Ex: King's Norton Mint Collection." In 1972, Ceylon dropped its membership in the British Commonwealth and changed its name to Sri Lanka, which name is still in use. The nation has been torn by conflicts between Tamils and the majority Sinhalese. This one year type is common.
