Spain 1966-68 50 centimos rev DSLR.jpg
closeup of the date

This Spanish fifty centimos was issued by Franco's regime for circulation in 1967-75. All the issues bear the date 1966 below the dictator's bust but have the actual date in the stars on the obverse. Spain was the only country to do this and abandoned this clumsy system after 1982, during the reign of Juan Carlos. Some dates, such as 1970, are scarce but this one is very common.

Recorded mintage: 100,000,000.

Specification: 1.1 g, aluminum, 20 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 795, Cayón-17788.
