This specimen was lot 1208 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $66. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN: Francisco Franco, caudillo, 1947-1975, 2 1/2 pesetas, 1953(71), a wonderful quality example! NGC graded MS64." This type was struck for circulation in 1954 and 1956 and for collector sets in 1968-71. The denomination must not have been popular as it has not been used since. Altho the date below the bust is 1953, the actual date is in the stars on the reverse; Spain was the only country to do this.
Recorded mintage: 10,000[2].
Specification: aluminum bronze, 7 g, 25 mm diameter, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: Cayón-17835, KM-785.
