This specimen was lot 74667 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. 5 Pesetas, 1882-MS M. Madrid Mint. Alfonso XII. PCGS EF-45. This attractive specimen exhibits even, medium-gray toning and hints of russet and gold peripheral toning. From the R & J Robertson Collection." This design was struck 1882-87 in large fairly numbers and is fairly common in grades up to Very Fine; nice specimens are scarce and expensive. Cayón reports an 1882/1 overdate.
