This specimen was lot 2861 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 50 € (about US$65 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1857. Isabel II. segovia. 25 centavos de real. Sombras. EBC- [about extremely fine]." This type was struck in Barcelona 1863-64 and Segovia 1854-64. In 1850, the twenty reales was reduced to 26.91 grams and the copper maravedis dropped in favor of 1/20, 1/10 and 1/5 reales. In 1854, those copper denominations were dropped in favor of five, ten and twenty-five céntimos.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.
