The first specimen was lot 3392 in Goldberg sale 85 (Los Angeles, June 2015), where it sold for $646. The catalog description[1] noted, "Korea (South). 25,000 Won, 1986. Weight 0.4999 ounce. For the 1988 Olympic games. Folk dancing. Choice Brilliant Proof." The second specimen was lot 71670 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it did not sell. The catalog description[2] noted, "KOREA, SOUTH. 25000 Won, 1986. Olympic Series, Folk Dancing. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo." This one year type, like many modern commemoratives, trades as a bullion coin.
Recorded mintage: 42,500 uncirculated plus 117,500 proofs.
Specification: 16.81 g, 0.925 fine gold, 27 mm diameter.
