Sincona sale 91, lot 3490

The first specimen was lot 4952 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$535 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND Solothurn, Halbbatzen 1826, Solothurn. FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung (Uncirculated, Magnificent condition)." The second specimen was lot 3490 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$463 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Halbbatzen 1826, Solothurn. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, half batzen of 1826, Solothurn mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This was the only issue of this denomination. It accompanied a one, and five batzen. Five rappen made half a batzen or two kreuzer. Forty batzen made a thaler.
