This specimen was lot 20424 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $2,587.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMAN STATES. Solms-Laubach. Taler, 1748. Christian August (1738-84). RARE, mintage of only 202 pieces. Toned. NGC XF-45." This thaler was issued on the occasion of the death of the Count's first wife, Elizabeth Amelia.
