This specimen was lot 1574 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $4,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "SINGAPORE. 500 Dollars, 1975. Singapore Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Independence. A boldly designed and early issue of Singapore, this example is free of visible handling with no copper spots over either side." Singapore, today an independent city-state, was until 1948 part of the British colony of the Straits Settlements. It left the Federation of Malaysia in 1965 and commenced coinage in 1967.
