Silesia is considered a German State even tho the province was then under Austrian rule and is now in Poland. The three brothers, Ludwig, Georg and Christian, issued a series of gold coins 1651-62 but thereafter each brother issued his own. Georg III issued a ducat in 1664 (KM 477/Fr-3203) and Christian issued the one shown here. It is similar to one struck in 1661 but has a different legend on the reverse. The line lapsed in 1675.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3,44 g.
