This specimen was lot 2504 in Goldberg sale 91 (Los Angeles, June 2016), where it sold for $123.37. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sierra Leone. 50 Dollars, 1997 NGC PF70 UC. Diana - The Peoples' Princess. Portrait of Lady Diana. Reverse: Arms. NGC graded Proof 70 Ultra Cameo." Sierra Leone honored the deceased princess with sixteen different commemoratives in 1997 and four more in 1998. Friedberg lists this as a fifty leones piece but we side with the auction catalog and the SCWC and go with dollars.

Recorded mintage: c. 7,500.

Specification: 3.11 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.100 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-15; KM-74.
