Sincona sale 33, lot 3261

This specimen was lot 3261 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SERBIA. Peter I. 1903-1918 10 Para 1917. Fast FDC. (Serbia, Peter I, 1903-18, ten para of 1917. About uncirculated.)"

Serbia was conquered and occupied by the Austrians during World War One but reemerged after the war as the kingdom of Yugoslavia. The monarchy was overthrown by Nazi occupation in 1940 and Yugoslavia was reconstituted as a republic under Communist rule in 1945. This type, along with a five and twenty para (KM 18 and KM 20), were manufactured in Providence, Rhode Island, by the Gorham Mfg. Co.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000.

Specification: 4 g, copper-nickel, 20 mm diameter, this specimen 3.95 g.
