This specimen was lot 3150 in Goldberg sale 91 (Los Angeles, June 2016), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland. One sixteenth dollar, 1681 NGC AU58. Charles II. Obverse draped laureate bust of King left. Reverse, cross of Saint Andrew with regional motifs around. Practically as struck and very rare to find a Scottish coin of this period in such a high grade. NGC graded AU-58." This type was issued 1677-81 and was roughly equal to an English threepence. It is listed in the SCWC as a quarter merk or forty pence.
