This specimen was lot 41403 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $78,000. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Extremely Rare Early Gold Issue from Schwyz, Possibly the Only Example Offered in the Last 20 Years. SWITZERLAND. Schwyz. Scudo d'Oro (Goldkronen), ND (1510-20). Bellinzona Mint. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Obverse: Small imperial eagle poised over a completely blank, archaic shield of Schwyz, legends read: "MONETA :*: NO :*: SVITENSIS :★:"; Reverse: Cross fleury in circles, legend: "SALVE. CRVX. SANCTA. ET. bENEDICT", "Hail and Bless Thee, O Holy Cross". Exceptional quality for this early Swiss type, showcasing a strike that is bold and well centered on the flan and surfaces that are nicely preserved with sparkling luster and vibrant orange gold color. EXTREMELY RARE and the only example we've seen offered. An undeniable landmark opportunity for the Swiss specialist. Ex: Leu Numismatik, 10/2001, lot 19 at 28,000 CHF.
