Schaumburg-Pinneberg (1)611-IG 2 schilling
This specimen was lot 11240 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Copenhagen, June 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Schleswig-Holstein-Schaumburg-Pinneberg. 2 Schillings (1/18.5 Taler), 1611. Altona Mint. Ernst III. NGC AU Details--Environmental Damage. From the L.E. Bruun Collection." Schaumburg proper is adjacent to Lippe in lower Saxony. The county of Schaumburg-Pinneberg is on the north bank of the Elbe, between Hamburg and Glückstadt. Erected in the fourteenth century, the line fell extinct in 1640 and the county was annexed by the king of Denmark as duke of Holstein. This 2 schilling is listed in the SCWC for 1611-13, with abbreviated (three digit) dates. The thaler, normally 32 schilling, was raised to 37 schilling for this issue, which is marked "18½" of a thaler.
