Künker sale 263, lot 1349

This specimen was lot 1349 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €650 (about US$840 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHAUMBURG-LIPPE, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1807 FÜRSTENTUM Georg Wilhelm unter Vormundschaft des Grafen Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn, 1799-1807. Konv.-Taler 1802. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, county of Schaumburg-Lippe, George William under regency, 1799-1807, convention thaler of 1802. Attractive example with fine patina, extremely fine.)"

The count was promoted to prince in 1807 and joined the new German empire in 1871. Coinage was sporadic and mintages small; the next thaler was issued in 1860.
