Künker sale 400, lot 224

This specimen was lot 224 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €4,800 (about US$6,227 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich August II. 1733-1763. Dukat 1750, Dresden. GOLD. RR Leicht gewellt, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, Frederick Augustus II, 1733-63, ducat of 1750, Dresden mint. Very rare, slightly wavy, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck annually 1735-45, 1748-63 yet is rare, like most Saxon gold issues of the eighteenth century.
