This specimen was lot 52259 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1625-HI. Dresden Mint. Johann Georg I. NGC MS-62. Surpassed in the NGC census by just two examples, this wondrous crown presents a rather deep and alluring cabinet tone along with a much bolder, more intricate strike than is generally encountered. As such, a specimen that should generate great enthusiasm and spirited bidding." This type is listed for 1620-38 and is slightly scarcer than the preceding type (Dav-7591).
