Saxe-Weimar 1622 thaler Dav-7530
This specimen was lot 5895 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,670 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-WEIMAR, HERZOGTUM, Johann Ernst und seine fünf Brüder, 1622-1626. Reichstaler 1622, Saalfeld, auf den Tod seines Bruders Friedrich in der Schlacht bei Fleury. Patina, kl. Kratzer, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Weimar, John Ernest and his five brothers, 1622-26, thaler of 1622, Saafeld mint, on the death of his brother Frederick at the battle of Fleury. Toned, light scratches, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This particular permutation of Saxe-Weimar, known as Saxe-Middle-Weimar, lasted 1605-40. This death commemorative is fairly expensive.
