This specimen was lot 77302 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxe-Weimar. Taler, 1615-WA. Saalfeld Mint. Johann Ernst and his seven brothers. EXTREMELY FINE Details--Cleaned." This type was struck 1612-16 in Saxe-Weimar and is among the more common thalers of the period. The eight brothers depicted were co-rulers of the tiny state; the last one, William IV, died in 1662.
