This specimen was lot 3958 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN-COBURG-GOTHA Alfred, 1893-1900. 20 Mark 1895. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Alfred, 1893-1900, twenty mark of 1895, very fine.)"
This rare type was struck 1895 only along with two (KM 158) and five mark (KM 160). All the dukes of the Saxon states abdicated after World War One and in 1920 the region was consolidated into the state of Thuringia.
Recorded mintage: 10,000 plus proofs.
