This specimen was lot 1247 in Jean Elsen sale 135 (Brussels, December 2017), where it sold for €125 (about US$173 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE-COBOURG-GOTHA, Ernst II (1844-1893), AR Taler, 1848F. Petits coups. Très Beau. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Ernest II, 1844-93, silver thaler of 1848. Minor nicks, very fine.)"
This one year type is somewhat scarce. Ernest's brother Albert became Prince Consort to queen Victoria of England.
