Sincona sale 97, lot 1691. the reverse image should show the star at the top.

This specimen was lot 1691 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 1,900 CHF (about US$2,756 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN Savoyen / Sardinien, Emanuele Filiberto, 1553-1580. Scudo d'oro 1573, Nizza. Selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Italy, duchy of Savoy, Emanuel Philibert, 1553-80, gold scudo of 1573, Nice mint. Rare, Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"

This scudo d'oro is listed in Friedberg for 1570-76 and undated. A similar scudo d'oro (Fr-1039b) was struck 1561-80 with a voided cross instead of the Maltese cross shown here. While not common, these are the only Savoyard gold coins not extremely rare. Savoy was not one of the prosperous regions of Italy like Milan or Tuscany.
