This specimen was lot 1588 in Sincona sale 66 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$329 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | House of Savoy / Sardinia | misc. Amedeo VIII. 1416-1434. Mezzo Grosso o. J. Chambery. II Tipo. Sehr schön. Unregelmässiger Schrötling. (duchy of Savoy, Amadeus VIII, 1416-34, undated half grosso, Chambery mint, second type. Very fine, Irregular flan.)"
This obscure coin was minted by the duke of Savoy in the late Renaissance. Amadeo was also antipope Felix V. The duke of Savoy was promoted to king of Sardinia in 1720 and king of Italy in 1861.
