Ponterio sale 169, lot 22445

This specimen was lot 22445 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $188. The catalog description^[1] noted, "SAUDI ARABIA. 10 Halala, AH 1400(1979). PCGS SP-65." It is accompanied by twenty-five, fifty, one hundred and five halala issues. We don't know why this coin is expensive; it is not listed as rare in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: 29,500,000.

Specification: copper-nickel, 4 g, 21 mm diameter.
