Sincona sale 38, lot 1576

This specimen was lot 1576 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,559 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Carlo Alberto, 1831-1849 100 Lire 1832. Torino. Fast vorzüglich. Etwas berieben. Justierspuren auf Rückseite. (kingdom of Sardinia, Charles Albert, 1831-49, one hundred lire of 1832, Turin mint, About extremely fine, Some scratches, Adjustment marks on reverse.)"

This type was struck 1832-42 at Turin (shown here) and Genoa and superseded the gold eighty lire of the previous reign. Tho not rare, it is expensive.

Specification: 32.25 grams, 0.900 fine gold, .933 troy oz AGW, this specimen 32.23 g.
