Sarawak, a British colony on the northwest coast of Borneo, was ruled by a dynasty of white rajahs from 1841 to 1946. This type was issued 1870 and 1879-91 from London and Heaton, along with a half cent and quarter cent. It is common in low grade but expensive in nice condition. A hole was added for the issues of 1892-97. No silver coins were issued until 1900. This is a fairly common date.
Recorded mintage: 535,000 plus 2,675,000 from Heaton.
