This 500 lire was struck in Rome for San Marino in 1992 as part of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of Columbus's discovery of America. It accompanied a brass 200 lire (KM 285). Other 500 lire included KM 271 and KM 276 in silver (both for the Barcelona Olympics). San Marino now uses the euro.

Recorded mintage: 4,518,864 plus 36,000 proofs.

Specifications: 6.8 g, Bimetallic: aluminum bronze center in stainless steel ring, 25.8 mm diameter, reeded edge.
