This specimen was lot 30204 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "San Marino. Republic 20 Lire 1938-R MS66 NGC, Rome mint. The undisputed key date for the type, seen here with an incredible eye appeal that is rarely achieved, most examples coming down to us in well-circulated condition. Ex. Goldberg Auction 47 (May 2008, Lot 3146). From the Cape Coral Collection of European Crowns." This type was struck in Rome for the tiny republic of San Marino in 1931-38. The mintage is low but many were saved as souvenirs so the type is available in lightly circulated condition. It is accompanied by silver five (KM 9) and ten lire (KM 10). The obverse features St. Marinus.

Specification: 20 g, 0.835 fine silver, 35.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
