This specimen was lot 1886 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAN MARINO Republik, 2 Lire 1906 R, Roma. Fast FDC. Minimale Belagreste. (republic of San Marino, two lire of 1906, Rome mint. About uncirculated, Some minor PVC residue.)"
This type was struck in Rome for the tiny republic of San Marino in 1906. The mintage is low but enough were saved as souvenirs so the type is available in lightly circulated condition. The weight and fineness matches that of a contemporary Italian two lire and French two francs.
Recorded mintage: 15,000.
Specification: 10 g, 0.835 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, this specimen 10.01 g.
