This specimen was lot 23705 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $15,275. The catalog description[1] noted, "Salzburg. Paris von Lodron gold 4 Ducat 1628, AU53 NGC, a most appealing example of this rare multiple Ducat with intricate details and a pleasing blend of old-time patina and mint luster." The Archbishop of Salzburg issued a variety of gold coins ranging from a quarter ducat (0.875 g) to fifty ducats (175 g). The larger ones were usually commemorative in nature and are rare.
