Stack's Bowers 2019 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72749
St Kitts SB1019-72749r.jpg

This specimen was lot 72749 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAINT KITTS & NEVIS. 100 Dollars, 1982. London Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating the 200th anniversary of the siege of Brimstone Hill, this issue is incredibly RARE in proof given its scant mintage figure. Sharply struck and offering brilliant fields and frosted devices, this piece presents great eye appeal." Saint Kitts and Nevis, an impoverished former sugar island in the eastern Caribbean, has never issued circulating coinage, choosing to use the East Caribbean dollar. This NCLT was struck to the standard of a British sovereign.

Recorded mintage: 250 plus 15 proofs.

Specification: 7.99 g, 0.917 fine gold.

Catalog reference: Fr-1; KM-5.
