This specimen was lot 74518 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Bimetallic 3 Rubles, 2004-CNMA. St. Petersburg Mint. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Commemorating the 300th anniversary of the monetary reform of Peter I. Featuring a gold inlay that offsets the Cyrillic dated 1704 Kopek, with an obverse and reverse of the coin present. Extremely alluring an enchanting." The coinage reform of 1998 (1000 old rubles = one new ruble) rendered the old ruble obsolete. This denomination was used for numerous commemoratives in 2004, including Y850, Y851, Y852, Y853, Y854, Y855, Y856, Y857, Y858, Y859, Y860, Y861, Y862, Y1013, Y1015, Y1020 and Y1022.
