This specimen was lot 6170 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $891.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. 15 Kopeks, 1942. Of the Soviet period this is one of the rarest date of any minor. Nice original mint luster. Very Rare date. NGC graded MS-62." This type was struck 1937-46 and most dates are common but this one is rare. Other Soviet rarities exist, including the 1958 10 kopeks.
